St. Louis County Arrest History

St. Louis County arrest records begin with the agency that took a person into custody. That may be St. Louis County Police, Florissant Police, Chesterfield Police, Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C, or another municipal, campus, transit, or special-jurisdiction department. Wildwood receives police service through St. Louis County Police. There is no single countywide incident-report file, so the agency name controls where the narrative arrest report must be requested.

If a person is transported to the county jail, the Department of Justice Services creates a separate intake and booking record. The St. Louis County Sheriff is not the general police records custodian and does not operate the jail. The Sheriff handles court security and civil process. This local division of duties is important because sending an arrest request to a generic “sheriff’s records desk” can lead to the wrong office.

St. Louis County Intake Records

The Buzz Westfall Justice Center in Clayton is the St. Louis County detention and intake hub. Justice Services processes people delivered by many independent agencies. Intake staff check warrant and record data, take fingerprints and a booking photograph, assign a booking identifier, screen and classify the detainee, record property, and document release authorization. A Florissant arrest can therefore produce both a Florissant Police report and a county Justice Services booking.

That split explains why the two files do not always use the same charge wording. The police report preserves the event and arrest basis. The booking record captures the custody charge, holds, bond, intake, and release data. The prosecutor can later file a different or amended charge, and the court records that judicial version. None should be silently merged into one “criminal record.”

Note: A city police arrest and a St. Louis County booking are linked parts of one event, but they have different custodians.

Looking Up St. Louis County Arrests

No official St. Louis County arrest channel answers every question. Begin with the record closest to the event, then move outward. A last and first name can check present county custody, but an arresting agency, approximate date and time, location, report number, booking number, or case number will make requests more precise. Phone or counter contact is the fallback when a public system lags.

1. Use the official county inmate locator for someone believed to be in current or recently processed custody at Buzz Westfall Justice Center. Call Justice Services at 314-615-5245 or the Justice Center at 314-615-6422 if the locator fails.
2. Identify the arresting agency. Request the incident or arrest report from that police department through its records page, counter, mail process, or direct records contact.
3. Search Missouri Case.net after charges are filed. Match the booking to the St. Louis County case and read the charge-level disposition.
4. Use MACHS for a Missouri statewide open-record response. The paid name search is not a live booking log and gives possible matches rather than fingerprint-confirmed identity.
5. Submit a focused Sunshine request through St. Louis County NextRequest for a releasable booking sheet or county Police record that is not displayed online.
6. After a transfer to state prison, parole, or state probation, check MODOC Offender Search. It does not list every county arrest.

Find the St. Louis County Arresting Agency

The report belongs to the department that investigated the event. St. Louis County Police directs county-police requests through its official records channel and the county’s public-request portal. Florissant and Chesterfield maintain city police routes. St. Louis County Police is the practical channel for police service in Wildwood. Patrol, campus, transit, and other special agencies keep their own reports even when Justice Services completed the booking.

Central Police Records is in Room B-013 at 7900 Forsyth Boulevard, Clayton, Missouri 63105. The office can be reached at 314-615-5317, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. County Police and traffic reports are normally available ten days after the incident and cost $6.50. In-person pickup requires photo identification. A mailed request needs a notarized statement, report number, reason, and the requester’s involvement. The former counter background-check service ended on January 16, 2025, so use MACHS for statewide history.

Inside a St. Louis County Arrest Record

A St. Louis County arrest record can refer to an agency report or a county booking sheet. The agency report identifies the event, legal basis, suspected offense, officer, subject, location, and narrative facts. Booking adds the intake record, fingerprints, photograph, custody charges, holds, bond, and release authorization. The public inmate profile is narrower and focused on current custody. Filed charges and outcomes belong to the court record.

The authorized profile can also show year of birth, race, sex, facility, case number, next court date, charge status, and bond type. It omits a full birth date, address, medical or security flags, and other protected details. Data changes quickly, so verify time-sensitive custody and bond information with Justice Services or the court.

St. Louis County Arrest Cycle Tracking

During a fingerprinted booking, the arrest cycle receives an eight-digit Offense Cycle Number, or OCN. The OCN is Missouri’s tracking key for that arrest event. Justice Services sends the fingerprints and OCN-linked cycle to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Central Repository. The prosecutor, court, and corrections agencies later report filed charges, dispositions, sentences, and supervision data tied to that cycle.

MSHP says the repository is updated daily as agencies submit records, but reporting speed and completeness depend on each source. Older statewide coverage is less uniform because mandatory reporting began in 1987, though the repository itself dates to the 1940s. The OCN is not the St. Louis County booking number and is not the court case number. Each identifier serves a different record system.

Request St. Louis County Arrest Records

NextRequest is the county fallback for an existing releasable record not available through the locator or agency page. A requester can begin without first creating a password. Entering an email links or creates the account. Choose the likely custodian, such as Police or Justice Services, and describe records rather than asking the office to answer a broad question.

For a St. Louis County arrest, provide the arresting agency, approximate date and time, location, report number, and booking number if known. Name the product needed, such as the incident report, arrest report, booking sheet, booking photograph, CAD record, 911 audio, or video. Ask for electronic copies and a cost estimate when practical. One county request does not reach an independent city department.

Under Missouri arrest-report access law, basic arrest information may be open while active-investigation detail, juvenile material, victim identifiers, and other protected content may be closed or redacted. The county generally must produce records or explain a delay by the end of the third business day. That is a response deadline, not a promise that production will be complete then.

Booking Logs and Recent Arrests

St. Louis County does not publish a conventional daily booking-photo gallery. The official inmate locator is the proper online route for a person believed to be held or recently processed at Buzz Westfall Justice Center. Its search asks for first and last name. Results are a custody snapshot, not a complete list of every county arrest and not a statewide criminal history.

A missing result may mean the name was entered differently, processing is still underway, the person was released, another facility has custody, or no county booking occurred. Search Case.net for a filed case and call Justice Services for a current custody question. If the person moved to Missouri state custody or supervision, use MODOC Offender Search. Never infer that no arrest took place solely from an empty current-jail result.

When a St. Louis County Case Is Missing

A fresh booking can exist before a public court case. The prosecutor must first review the police referral and decide whether to file, amend, decline, or dismiss charges. Until filing, Case.net may have no St. Louis County criminal case to display. Keep the booking number, arresting agency, and approximate arrest time, then check the court again after the filing process has had time to occur.

MACHS open-record output may include arrests less than 30 days old and prosecutor-filed charges awaiting a final disposition. Yet the $15 name search is not a real-time roster, and it returns a possible identity match. For the local event, the agency report and Justice Services booking remain the closest sources. For the eventual legal outcome, search the St. Louis County criminal court case and read each charge’s disposition.

Arrests Are Not Convictions

An arrest records a law-enforcement action and possible custody. It does not decide guilt. A conviction comes only from a court judgment. In St. Louis County, the arresting agency creates the report, Justice Services may add the booking, and the Circuit Clerk records the filed case and result. A prosecutor may file a different charge, decline the referral, or dismiss a filed count.

Note: An arrest is not proof of guilt, and a booking may never lead to charges or may end in dismissal or acquittal.
